Mandya: A giant python measuring nearly 10 feet in length and weighing over 30 kilograms was rescued from Karnataka’s Mandya district after reportedly swallowing an entire deer near a Bengaluru Water Supply pipeline. The incident took place at Netkal village in Malavalli taluk, where locals spotted the massive reptile lying motionless near the pipeline area. According to reports, the snake was unable to move after consuming the animal, drawing immediate attention and panic among residents in the village.
Frightened villagers quickly alerted the Forest Department after noticing the unusually large python resting in the same spot for a long time. Soon after receiving the information, reptile rescue experts and forest officials rushed to the location and safely captured the snake without causing harm to either the animal or nearby residents. Videos and visuals of the python spread rapidly on social media, with many people shocked by the reptile’s massive size and the fact that it had swallowed an entire deer.
Forest officials later shifted the python to the Muthathi forest region, where it was safely released back into its natural habitat. Authorities stated that pythons are non-venomous snakes and are commonly found in forest and waterbody areas, especially during hunting periods. The rare sight of the giant snake lying still after swallowing its prey created huge curiosity among villagers, with several residents gathering near the spot before the rescue team cleared the area.
