Hyderabad: A Hyderabad man was booked by the Narsingi Police after allegedly driving a car at more than 200 kilometres per hour on the city’s Outer Ring Road (ORR) and uploading the video on social media. The incident reportedly took place on May 19 when the accused, identified as Srikaringula Sairam from Alkapur, drove from the Narsingi toll plaza towards Appa Junction at extremely high speed while recording the entire act. Police later traced him through the viral video and seized the vehicle involved in the stunt.
According to investigators, the accused not only crossed the permitted speed limit of 120 kmph but also drove recklessly while playing loud music and filming the speedometer. In the video, Sairam is allegedly heard saying that he would “complete the whole circuit” after showing that the speedometer was initially at zero near the toll gate. The clip, uploaded on his social media handle “runningeagle310,” quickly spread online and drew criticism from netizens over the danger posed to commuters on the busy expressway.
Following an inquiry, the Narsingi Police registered a case against Sairam under Section 125(A) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rash and negligent driving that endangered public safety. Officials said such acts on high-speed corridors like the ORR can lead to fatal accidents and strict action would continue against violators using roads for social media stunts and racing videos. The police also warned motorists against overspeeding and reckless driving for online attention.
