Trinamool Congress MP has strongly denied allegations linking her to a Kolkata property allegedly associated with , calling the claims “fake news” and politically motivated. In a statement posted on social media, the actor-turned-politician said her assets were already publicly declared in her election affidavit and challenged critics to verify official records instead of spreading misinformation. She also warned that strict legal action would be taken against those attempting to defame her without evidence.
The controversy comes just a day after Ghosh alleged she received an “open death threat” from a BJP leader in Uttar Pradesh. According to her allegations, BJP leader Pradeep Dixit publicly announced a ₹1 crore reward for anyone who would “behead” her, triggering outrage across political circles. Ghosh questioned the BJP government’s commitment to women’s safety and tagged Prime Minister , Union Home Minister and Lok Sabha Speaker while demanding immediate action over the remarks.
Meanwhile, the All India Trinamool Congress accused the BJP of running a coordinated smear campaign by allegedly leaking Kolkata Municipal Corporation notices related to properties linked to party leaders. The controversy escalated after BJP leader claimed that several TMC-linked individuals controlled multiple properties in Kolkata. Responding to the political storm earlier, Abhishek Banerjee maintained a defiant stance and declared that he would continue his political fight against the BJP regardless of notices or demolition threats.
