Three Killed, Two Injured as Car–Truck Collision Rocks Khammam District in Telangana

At least three people lost their lives and two others sustained injuries in a tragic road accident reported from early on Monday, December 29. The accident occurred at Mittapalli village in Tallada mandal when a car travelling from Kallur towards Tallada collided head-on with a truck moving in the opposite direction. Preliminary information suggests that poor visibility during the early hours may have been a key factor behind the crash. The impact was severe, leaving the car almost completely mangled and trapping passengers inside.

Upon receiving information, personnel from rushed to the spot and immediately launched rescue operations. Three injured persons were shifted to the Government General Hospital in for medical treatment, while the bodies of those who died were extricated from the wreckage and sent to the mortuary for post-mortem examination. Police officials said the force of the collision was such that the car was reduced to rubble, highlighting the seriousness of the accident and raising fresh concerns over road safety in the region.

According to the police, the victims were returning from a pilgrimage to the in Odisha when the mishap occurred. The deceased were identified as Chillara Balakrishna, who was driving the car, and Rayala Anil, both residents of Zaffergadh in Jangaon district. The injured — Ajay, Kollipaka Kranthi, and Gattu Rakesh — belong to Uppugallu village in Station Ghanpur mandal of the same district. An investigation has been initiated to ascertain the exact cause of the accident, while authorities have once again urged motorists to exercise caution, especially during night and early-morning travel when visibility is low.
