Hyderabad Doctor Arrested for Alleged Terror Plot

A Hyderabad doctor, Ahmed Mohiyuddin Saiyed, has been arrested by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) for allegedly plotting a terror attack using the highly lethal chemical poison Ricin. Saiyed, who holds an MBBS degree from China, was arrested near Adalaj in Gandhinagar on November 7, along with two others, Azad Suleman Sheikh and Mohammad Suhail Mohammad Saleem.

Details of the Plot

According to Gujarat ATS DIG Sunil Joshi, Saiyed was radicalized and had planned to collect funds and recruit individuals to carry out major terrorist activities. He had conducted reconnaissance of sensitive locations in Lucknow, Delhi, and Ahmedabad, and had procured equipment and raw materials to produce Ricin. The ATS also seized weapons, mobile phones, and laptops from the accused, revealing their connections with the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP).

Investigation and Charges

The trio has been booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, and Arms Act. Saiyed has been remanded in ATS custody till November 17, while the others will be produced before a court. The investigation is ongoing, with the ATS coordinating with central and state agencies to uncover the extent of the plot and potential local and international connections ¹.
