United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer will embark on his first official visit to India on October 8–9, 2025, at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed on Sunday. The visit aims to review the progress of the India–UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership under the Vision 2035 roadmap — a decade-long framework covering cooperation in trade, technology, defence, climate, education, and health. The two leaders are expected to hold detailed discussions on strengthening bilateral ties, expanding trade opportunities, and collaborating on global issues of mutual interest.

During the visit, Prime Minister Modi and Keir Starmer will meet in New Delhi for high-level talks before heading to Mumbai on October 9, where they will interact with business and industry leaders to assess progress on the ongoing India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). Both leaders will also address the 6th Global Fintech Fest, engaging with innovators, policymakers, and financial technology experts to explore new avenues for cooperation in digital finance, investment, and start-up ecosystems. This engagement is expected to boost collaboration between Indian and British companies in emerging technologies and sustainable finance.

Starmer’s trip follows Modi’s visit to the UK in July 2025, where the two leaders met at the British PM’s Chequers residence to strengthen the Vision 2035 strategy. During that meeting, both nations finalized a defence industrial roadmap aimed at joint development and production of advanced defence systems. Prime Minister Modi also met King Charles III at Sandringham, presenting a tree sapling under his “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” environmental campaign — symbolizing India’s focus on sustainability and global climate cooperation. The upcoming visit is expected to further elevate the India–UK relationship, positioning both nations as key partners in global trade, green technology, and innovation.
