Hyderabad Metro Faces Brief Disruption Due to Technical Glitch

Metro services on the busy Miyapur–LB Nagar stretch of the red line were briefly disrupted on Tuesday, September 23, after a technical snag stalled operations. A train came to a halt at Bharat Nagar Metro Station, leading to an eight-minute delay that inconvenienced hundreds of regular commuters during the afternoon rush. Although short-lived, the disruption caused minor congestion as passengers had to wait for services to resume.

Officials from L&T Metro Rail confirmed that the glitch was related to maintenance issues and assured that services were restored quickly. “The metro trains were stalled for around eight minutes due to a technical snag related to maintenance. Services were restored soon, and all lines are now fully operational,” said Narendranath, Head of Corporate Communication at L&T Metro Rail. The statement came as a relief to commuters who rely heavily on the metro for their daily travel.

This was not the first such incident at Bharat Nagar Station. Earlier on May 1, 2025, a similar technical problem had caused a longer disruption of 15 to 20 minutes, affecting thousands of passengers on the red line. With Hyderabad Metro being one of the city’s most crucial transport systems, repeated glitches have raised questions about infrastructure readiness and maintenance protocols. Commuters have urged metro authorities to ensure stronger checks to prevent frequent breakdowns and avoid inconvenience to the public.
