A 20-year-old youth lost his life during the Khairatabad Ganesh immersion procession in Hyderabad on Friday. The incident occurred near Metro Pillar No. 1167 when the victim was reportedly attempting to board an immersion vehicle. He allegedly lost his balance, fell from the vehicle, and sustained fatal injuries. Police reached the scene, shifted the body to Osmania General Hospital for a post-mortem examination, and registered a case of suspicious death.

Following the incident, the deceased’s friends and several local youths staged a protest, alleging that a police lathi-charge to control traffic had created panic in the area. According to the protesters, the youth fell from the vehicle while trying to move away during the commotion. However, police have not confirmed this version of events and stated that the allegations are being investigated. The protest caused heavy traffic congestion as the Ganesh immersion procession continued.

Senior police officials later met the protesters and assured them that a fair investigation would be conducted. Authorities said CCTV footage and other evidence are being examined to establish the exact sequence of events leading to the youth’s death. The protesters ended their agitation after receiving the assurance, while police stated that the post-mortem report and investigation findings will determine the precise cause and circumstances of the incident.
