Residents of Hyderabad and several other districts across Telangana should prepare for the first spell of unseasonal rain and possible hailstorms of 2026, as changing weather conditions are expected to bring instability over the coming days. Forecasts indicate rainfall accumulation of around 20–40 mm in isolated pockets next week, marking a noticeable shift from the recent dry pattern. Alongside showers, misty or hazy conditions are likely to persist during early morning and late-night hours for the next few days.
According to independent weather observer T. Balaji, thunderstorms are expected to develop between February 22 and 24, initially affecting northern and eastern parts of Telangana before spreading more widely. Districts including Warangal, Karimnagar, Khammam, Siddipet, Suryapet, and Bhadrachalam may witness scattered storms accompanied by gusty winds and isolated hail activity. Such unseasonal systems typically form due to upper-air disturbances interacting with surface moisture, creating localized but intense weather episodes.
The India Meteorological Department has so far predicted mist or hazy conditions but has not issued any formal alert for heavy rainfall or hailstorms. Despite the absence of an official warning, residents are advised to plan travel carefully, especially during peak traffic hours, as sudden downpours and reduced visibility could disrupt daily routines. Weather fluctuations of this nature, while not uncommon during transitional periods, can still catch the city off guard if preparedness is ignored.
