In a tragic incident reported from Uppal Bhagayath in Hyderabad, two young siblings who had gone missing on Tuesday were found dead in a pit filled with rainwater at a construction site on Wednesday. The boys, identified as Manikanta (12) and Arjun (10), were children of Venkatesh and Sujatha, residents of Uppal. According to reports, the children had gone out to play with their friends in the afternoon, after informing their parents, but did not return home, prompting a frantic search by family members and neighbours.
Despite hours of searching and filing a missing complaint with the police, there was no sign of the children until the next day when construction workers and locals discovered their bodies floating in a water-filled pit at a site where a community hall is under construction. Initial investigations suggest that the children accidentally slipped and fell into the pit, which had collected rainwater due to recent showers. The area reportedly lacked proper safety barriers, raising concerns over negligence.
Uppal police, upon receiving the alert, rushed to the spot and, with the help of Disaster Response Force (DRF) personnel, retrieved the bodies. The remains were shifted to a government hospital for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances of the incident and whether any lapses in site safety led to the fatal mishap. The tragic death of the siblings has left the local community in shock, with many demanding accountability from the construction authorities.
