Tensions Flare at Congress Meet in Khairatabad as Danam Nagender, Vijaya Reddy Supporters Clash

A Congress party meeting held in Hyderabad’s Khairatabad constituency turned chaotic on Saturday, June 14, as tensions erupted between supporters of MLA Danam Nagender and corporator Vijaya Reddy. The meeting, chaired by Nagender, was meant to address local issues but quickly spiraled out of control due to allegations of unfair speaking time allocation among different municipal division leaders. Discontentment over this led to heated arguments, with Vijaya Reddy’s supporters confronting Nagender over their exclusion from speaking during the event.

The verbal confrontation quickly escalated into a physical scuffle as both camps began jostling each other on the stage. Despite repeated attempts by senior Congress leaders to pacify the crowd and restore order, the supporters ignored calls for discipline. The clash disrupted the flow of the meeting and left the audience stunned. Eventually, the party workers returned to their seats, but not without causing a significant scene that raised serious concerns about internal unity within the Congress cadre in Hyderabad.

Following the incident, senior Congress leaders indicated that disciplinary action would be taken against those responsible for the disturbance. They stated that a report would be submitted to higher authorities with recommendations to act against the troublemakers. The Khairatabad constituency, a politically sensitive zone, has witnessed internal rivalries within Congress before, but Saturday’s public fallout has amplified the perception of factionalism ahead of crucial political developments in Telangana.
