Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, in his Independence Day speech in Hyderabad, launched a scathing attack on the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government, accusing it of leaving the state burdened with a staggering ₹8,21,652 crore in debts and dues. Breaking down the figures, he revealed that ₹6,71,757 crore was direct debt, while ₹40,154 crore comprised unpaid employee benefits and scheme-related arrears. Additionally, ₹1,09,740 crore remained pending in allocations for SC/ST sub-plans, Singareni Collieries, the power sector, and other departments. Despite inheriting this massive financial strain, Reddy stated that his government has already serviced debt worth ₹2,20,676 crore — including ₹1,32,498 crore in principal and ₹88,178 crore in interest — since assuming office. He reaffirmed that the Congress-led administration is committed to steering Telangana forward, drawing inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, while aiming to make Telangana a game-changing force in India’s journey towards becoming a global leader by 2047.
Highlighting his government’s forward-looking roadmap, the CM unveiled the “Telangana Rising 2047” vision document — an ambitious policy blueprint aimed at transforming the state into a $1 trillion economy by 2035 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047. The plan outlines large-scale infrastructure projects, including the Gandhi Sarovar at Bapu Ghat, new greenfield highways, dry ports, the second phase of Hyderabad Metro Rail, radial roads between Outer and Regional Ring Roads, and industrial corridors connecting Hyderabad to Nagpur, Bengaluru, and Vijayawada. The CM also emphasized Hyderabad’s development as a global city, with the Musi Rejuvenation Project promising a permanent solution to urban flooding and ensuring a clean, eco-friendly environment. He stressed that these initiatives are not just aspirations but determined commitments to enhance Hyderabad’s brand image and boost Telangana’s role in India’s economic and industrial growth.
On law and order, Reddy proudly pointed to Telangana’s top ranking in policing among 18 large states in the India Justice Report 2025, attributing it to efficient and professional law enforcement. He lauded the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing’s first-place achievement in drug control and the elite EAGLE (Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement) team for its dedicated fight against narcotics. Telangana, he said, is now recognized globally for its peace and security, hosting multiple international conferences and participating in prestigious events like the World Police Summit attended by representatives from 138 countries. With strong governance, infrastructural ambitions, and a focus on economic transformation, Reddy declared that the Congress government’s goal is to position Telangana as a powerhouse of development, innovation, and prosperity by the time India marks its centenary of independence in 2047.
