SpiceJet Flight Halted on Hyderabad Runway After Crew Flags Unusual Engine Noise

A SpiceJet flight scheduled to fly from Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) to Renigunta was diverted from the runway early Thursday morning after the flight crew detected abnormal engine noise during pre-departure safety checks. The incident occurred around 6:30 AM, just as the aircraft was about to initiate takeoff procedures. Acting swiftly and in accordance with safety protocols, the crew decided not to proceed with the flight and requested a technical inspection.

Following the alert, the aircraft was moved away from the active runway to avoid operational disruptions and was taken to a maintenance area for a thorough technical assessment. No passengers were harmed, and airport authorities confirmed that the situation was managed without any delays or disturbances to other flights. The airline has yet to issue a detailed statement but emphasized that passenger safety remains its highest priority.

This incident comes amid a period of increasing scrutiny for SpiceJet, as the airline recently faced insolvency petitions from three aircraft lessors and a former pilot. Aviation experts say the latest event highlights the importance of rigorous pre-flight checks and the need for enhanced maintenance protocols. While the exact cause of the engine noise remains under investigation, authorities are ensuring that the aircraft remains grounded until cleared by engineers for safe operation.
