Hyderabad: In a significant breakthrough, six individuals were arrested by the police on Sunday, May 4, for their involvement in a series of automobile thefts across various parts of Hyderabad. The thefts were reported in the jurisdiction of Narsingi, Humayun Nagar, Kollur, and Shamshabad police limits. The police action followed an extensive investigation into the rising cases of stolen vehicles in these areas. Among the arrested were Mohammed Naveed, an auto driver from Tolichowki, and his associates Mohammed Sohail, Shaik Mohit Ali, Mohammed Mehraj, Shaik Samad, and Shaik Naseer, all residents of different areas in Hyderabad.
The authorities were able to recover a total of five stolen vehicles, including three Honda Dio scooters, an Activa, and an auto rickshaw, along with two vehicles used by the thieves to carry out their crimes. The police also discovered that five individuals, including three juveniles, had purchased these stolen vehicles. These individuals were identified as Mohammed Basith Ali from Musheerabad and Mohammed Sameer from Bowenpally, Secunderabad.
The accused have been charged under Section 303 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the police continue to investigate their network and the sale of stolen vehicles in Hyderabad. This arrest marks a significant achievement for the Hyderabad police in curbing automobile theft in the city, with further actions expected against those involved in the buying and selling of stolen vehicles.
