Seventeen Women Critically Injured in Mahabubabad Road Accident

Mahabubabad: A tragic road accident near Peddanagaram village in Narsimhulupeta left seventeen women injured on Friday morning, with five of them in critical condition. The victims, all daily wage laborers from Cherlapalem and Fatehpuram villages, were traveling in an overcrowded autorickshaw to their workplace for mirchi harvesting when the vehicle lost control and overturned. According to police, the accident occurred due to overspeeding and poor road conditions, which made it difficult for the driver to maneuver. Emergency services rushed to the spot, and the injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Doctors at the hospital reported that five women had sustained life-threatening injuries and were undergoing emergency medical care. Eight others suffered severe fractures and internal injuries, while the remaining four had minor but painful wounds. Authorities have assured that the victims will receive the best possible medical assistance. Family members of the injured workers expressed their distress over the lack of safe transportation for laborers, urging local officials to take action to prevent such accidents in the future.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are examining whether negligence on the part of the driver or vehicle owner contributed to the crash. Initial findings suggest that the autorickshaw was overloaded, exceeding its capacity, which may have played a role in the accident. The district administration has promised compensation and support for the victims’ families. Meanwhile, the incident has sparked fresh concerns about the safety and working conditions of daily wage laborers in rural areas, prompting calls for better infrastructure and stricter transport regulations.
