At the launch of the Vana Mahotsavam 2025 program in Rajendranagar, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy reaffirmed his government’s dedication to women’s political and economic empowerment by announcing that 60 MLA tickets will be reserved for women in the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections. Speaking to a large gathering at PJT Agricultural University, Reddy emphasized that the Congress government is committed to implementing the 33% reservation for women in legislative bodies, promising that he will personally ensure the allotment of these tickets. He invoked the spirit of “Indiramma Rajyam,” declaring that in this new era, women must stand with self-respect and lead with dignity.
The Chief Minister further outlined the government’s multi-faceted strategy to uplift women economically. He reiterated the bold vision of making one crore women millionaires through targeted welfare schemes, including microfinance support, entrepreneurship incentives, and public-sector participation. As part of this initiative, the state has disbursed ₹21,000 crore in loans to women self-help groups (SHGs) this year alone. He also shared plans to form SHGs in urban areas and facilitate women’s participation in running government schools, managing solar power plants, and owning and operating 1,000 buses through a special RTC partnership scheme. Additionally, a unique opportunity has been created for women’s groups to market their products within Hyderabad’s IT corridor, specifically targeting corporate buyers in Hi-Tech City.
In line with the environmental goals of the Vana Mahotsavam, Revanth Reddy launched a massive plantation drive, aiming to plant 18 crore saplings across the state this year. He personally planted a Rudraksha sapling in the university’s Botanical Garden and echoed Prime Minister Modi’s appeal to plant trees in honor of mothers, urging families to plant saplings in the names of their children. Stressing the age-old wisdom that forests and human life are inseparable, he called on every household to nurture at least two saplings as part of a broader effort to transform Telangana into a green state. Ministers, including Konda Surekha, and senior government officials were present at the launch, lending support to the Chief Minister’s dual agenda of ecological sustainability and women-led development.
