Rahul Gandhi Slams Jaishankar, Questions Silence Over Operation Sindoor Losses

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has reignited political tensions by launching a direct attack on External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, questioning his silence regarding the alleged losses of Indian aircraft during Operation Sindoor. Rahul claimed that Pakistan was informed in advance about India’s military strikes targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). “EAM Jaishankar’s silence isn’t just telling — it’s damning,” Rahul posted on X, demanding to know how many aircraft India lost because of the purported advance warning. He called the act not a lapse, but a “crime,” asserting that the nation deserves transparency and truth.

The controversy intensified after Rahul Gandhi posted an older video of Jaishankar, alleging that the minister admitted to the government informing Pakistan before the strikes. Rahul questioned who authorized such a decision and what consequences it had for Indian defense forces. In response, the Ministry of External Affairs strongly denied the claims, labeling them an “utter misrepresentation” of Jaishankar’s remarks. According to the ministry’s External Publicity Division, the statement made by the EAM was about warning Pakistan in the early phase after the operation had begun, not before. They accused the Congress of twisting facts for political gain.

Operation Sindoor, launched by India on May 7 in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack, targeted and destroyed nine terrorist infrastructures in Pakistan and PoK. The operation triggered multiple retaliatory strikes from Pakistan, leading to four days of conflict before both sides reached a ceasefire on May 10. As political debate continues over the operation’s execution and communication protocols, the issue has sparked a national conversation about transparency, military strategy, and the political accountability of top leaders during sensitive security operations.
