Rahul Gandhi Begins Grassroots Campaign in MP, Holds Strategic Meetings with Congress Leaders

Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi arrived in Bhopal on Tuesday to kickstart the party’s “Sangathan Srujan Abhiyan” (Organisation Rejuvenation Campaign), aimed at energizing grassroots workers and preparing for the 2028 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections. Upon arrival, he was welcomed by MP Congress president Jitu Patwari and senior leader Kamal Nath at the airport. Gandhi then paid tribute to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and chaired a meeting at the state Congress office, signaling a fresh push to revive party structure and morale in the BJP-dominated state.

The high-level meeting at ‘Indira Bhawan’ in Bhopal saw attendance from several prominent Congress leaders, including Harish Choudhary, K C Venugopal, Digvijaya Singh, Umang Singhar, Arun Yadav, and Vivek Tankha. Rahul Gandhi led a detailed discussion on critical organisational strategies, focusing on long-term planning under “Mission 2028.” Party leaders stressed the need to rebuild public confidence and reconnect with grassroots supporters, especially after the Congress’ complete rout in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where BJP swept all 29 seats in the state, including Kamal Nath’s home turf Chhindwara.

Reaffirming the Congress’ commitment to a comeback, leaders outlined plans to strengthen booth-level management, mobilize youth participation, and focus on constituency-specific issues. Former CM Kamal Nath and other veterans pledged to provide mentorship and ensure close coordination among party units. The campaign also aims to bridge the disconnect that has persisted since the Congress’ short-lived government from 2018 to 2020. As the Congress regroups for the long road ahead, Rahul Gandhi’s Bhopal visit is being seen as the first major step in recalibrating the party’s strategy for Madhya Pradesh.
