Omega Hospital CEO Arrested in Hyderabad for Cocaine Purchase Worth ₹5 Lakh

In a shocking revelation from Hyderabad, Chigurupati Namrata, the CEO of Omega Hospital, was arrested on Friday, May 9, for allegedly purchasing cocaine worth ₹5 lakh. According to police officials, Namrata had ordered 53 grams of the narcotic by transferring the amount online to a supplier identified as Vansh Dhakkar. The drug was delivered through a courier agent, Balakrishna alias Rampyar Ram, who was also apprehended during the delivery. Acting on a tip-off, Rayadurgam police conducted a swift operation and caught the duo during the handover, seizing the cocaine, two mobile phones, and ₹10,000 in cash.

During police interrogation, Namrata reportedly confessed to being a habitual user and revealed that she had spent nearly ₹70 lakh on drugs over an extended period. The arrest of such a high-profile individual from the medical fraternity has raised serious concerns about the reach of drug networks within Hyderabad’s elite circles. Officials suspect that this could be part of a larger, well-connected drug syndicate, and further links are now being investigated. The case has highlighted growing drug abuse issues among professionals and emphasized the need for tighter surveillance on high-value narcotics transactions.

Police have booked Namrata and her accomplice under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985. The investigation is ongoing, with special teams probing into digital payment trails, call records, and possible connections with other drug peddlers operating in the city. The incident has not only shocked the healthcare community but also sparked debates on substance abuse among individuals holding key responsibilities. Authorities have assured a thorough crackdown on such illegal activities to curb the rising drug menace in Hyderabad.
