Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has announced a massive infrastructure push for Telangana, with the six-laning of the Hyderabad–Vijayawada highway set to begin within the next three months. Speaking at a public gathering in Amberpet, Hyderabad, Gadkari revealed that the project would cost ₹10,000 crore and significantly improve travel and logistics between the two key cities. The project is part of a broader initiative to enhance the national highway network, boosting connectivity and reducing travel time.
In addition to the highway expansion, Gadkari also unveiled plans to construct a spectacular glass bridge over the Krishna River, which will connect Telangana with Andhra Pradesh. Highlighting Telangana’s importance in India’s developmental roadmap, he stated that the central government is committed to ensuring robust road infrastructure in the state. This includes a vision of implementing infrastructure projects worth ₹2 lakh crore over the next 2–3 years to transform the region’s connectivity landscape.
The announcements were met with enthusiasm from local leaders and the public, as improved infrastructure is expected to drive economic growth, tourism, and regional integration. Gadkari emphasized that Telangana, especially Hyderabad, is a vital hub for national development and assured consistent central support. With major highway upgrades and landmark projects like the glass bridge on the horizon, Telangana is poised to become a key player in India’s infrastructure revolution.
