Nigerian Drug Peddler Busted in Hyderabad with ₹1.25 Crore Worth of Narcotics

In a significant breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB) arrested a Nigerian national in Hyderabad and seized drugs valued at ₹1.25 crore. The accused, identified as Emmanuel Bediako alias Maxwell (34), a native of Enugu State, Nigeria, was found in possession of 150 grams of cocaine, 1,100 ecstasy pills, and two mobile phones. Acting on a credible tip-off, the bureau conducted surveillance and apprehended him during a targeted raid on Monday, June 2.

Authorities revealed that Emmanuel was operating under the instructions of two foreign handlers—Sunny and Romey—who coordinated international drug supply chains. Emmanuel allegedly peddled narcotics in multiple Indian cities. This is not his first stint in India; officials stated that he had entered the country three times using different passports. During previous visits, he successfully managed drug distribution before returning to Nigeria, only to re-enter India in January 2025 to resume his illegal operations.

The arrest highlights the growing challenge of international drug syndicates infiltrating Indian cities. Police confirmed that an in-depth investigation is underway to identify local contacts and further disrupt the supply chain. The TGANB has urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, reiterating the government’s zero-tolerance stance on drug trafficking and organized crime.
