Nation Pays Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on His 156th Birth Anniversary

On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s 156th birth anniversary, the entire nation united to honor the Father of the Nation with prayers, floral tributes, and remembrance ceremonies. At Rajghat in New Delhi, a Sarva Dharma Prarthana Sabha was held to pay respects at Bapu’s Samadhi, reflecting his timeless message of peace and communal harmony. President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and Union Minister Manohar Lal gathered at the memorial to offer their floral tributes. Indian Missions abroad also organized special events to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti, highlighting how his vision continues to inspire people across the globe.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his message on social media, described Gandhi Jayanti as a day to remember the extraordinary life of Bapu, who transformed the course of human history with his ideals of non-violence and truth. The Prime Minister noted that Gandhi’s belief in courage and simplicity proved that even the humblest actions could create powerful change. He added that Mahatma Gandhi’s values of compassion and service remain central to empowering people and guiding the nation’s journey toward building a Viksit Bharat. Modi’s tribute emphasized the enduring relevance of Gandhiji’s philosophy in today’s world, particularly in strengthening unity and social justice.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid heartfelt homage to Mahatma Gandhi, recalling his role in inspiring millions during India’s freedom struggle. In his post, Shah highlighted how Gandhiji gave the people the message of achieving economic and social self-reliance through Gram Swaraj and cooperation. He noted that Gandhi’s principles of Swadeshi and Swachhta have become core pillars of Indian society and continue to guide modern reforms. Shah further emphasized that Gandhiji’s universal ideas of truth, non-violence, and peace are not just national values but treasures for humanity that will inspire generations to come.
