Mystery Deepens in MLA Maganti Gopinath’s Death: Mother Alleges KTR’s Role, Demands Full Investigation

The death of BRS leader and Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath has taken a controversial turn after his mother, Maganti Mahananda Kumari, filed a complaint with Raidurgam police seeking a detailed probe into the “mysterious circumstances” surrounding his passing. In her statement, she accused former Telangana minister and BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) of being granted exclusive access to her son in the ICU, while she herself was denied permission to meet him. She alleged that such selective access and secrecy indicate that something suspicious may have occurred during her son’s hospitalisation.

According to Mahananda Kumari, hospital authorities produced a letter signed by Gopinath’s daughter, Dishira, under the instructions of Sunitha, Gopinath’s second wife, forbidding her from meeting her own son. Despite being his mother, she claims she was not allowed to see him in the ICU or even after his death on June 8. However, she stated that KTR was allowed unrestricted entry to the ICU and met Gopinath privately before leaving without addressing her presence. This, she said, strengthened her doubts about manipulation or interference in her son’s care and final moments.

Following her three-page complaint, Raidurgam police have begun a preliminary enquiry into the matter. The controversy intensifies as Gopinath’s family faces internal disputes — with one woman from the U.S. claiming to be his first wife and alleging that Sunitha and her children obtained a fraudulent legal heir certificate. Meanwhile, BRS awarded its Jubilee Hills bypoll ticket to Gopinath’s widow, Maganti Sunitha, further fueling political and personal tensions. The police are now examining the allegations to determine whether negligence, malpractice, or foul play contributed to the MLA’s untimely death.
