Meghalaya Honeymoon Turns Deadly: Wife Hires Hitmen to Kill Indore Man, 4 Arrested

In a shocking revelation, Meghalaya police confirmed that Raja Raghuvanshi, a tourist from Indore, was murdered during his honeymoon in the state, allegedly at the behest of his wife, Sonam. The state’s Director General of Police, I Nongrang, stated on Monday that Sonam surrendered at Nandganj police station in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur district, while three of the hired assailants were arrested during late-night operations conducted across UP and Madhya Pradesh. The murder, which took place during what was supposed to be a celebratory trip, has sent shockwaves across the nation.

According to the police, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) apprehended two suspects from Indore and one from Uttar Pradesh. The arrested individuals allegedly confessed to being hired by Sonam to eliminate her husband. The DGP confirmed that the operation to capture remaining suspects is ongoing in Madhya Pradesh. Authorities have yet to disclose the motive behind the murder, but investigations are progressing rapidly, with the focus now on interrogating the arrested suspects to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma praised the swift efforts of the police in cracking the case. In a statement posted on social media platform X, he said, “Within 7 days a major breakthrough has been achieved by the Meghalaya Police in the Raja murder case… 3 assailants who are from Madhya Pradesh have been arrested, female has surrendered and operation still on to catch 1 more assailant… well done.” The case, which blends betrayal, premeditated crime, and interstate coordination, has spotlighted the need for robust crime detection systems even in tourist-friendly regions.
