A major fire erupted at a plastic company in Hyderabad’s Katedhan Industrial Estate on Sunday, prompting an immediate response from the fire department. Several fire engines were rushed to the spot to contain the flames, while authorities worked to assess the extent of the damage. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far, but the exact cause of the fire remains unknown.
The incident comes just days after another massive fire at a chemical factory in Hyderabad’s Cherlapally Industrial Area, where a reactor collapse led to an uncontrollable blaze. Additionally, on February 2, a fire at Murphy Comfort Private Limited in Uppal Bhagayath destroyed mattresses, pillows, and foam-based materials. The alarming frequency of industrial fires in Hyderabad has raised concerns about fire safety regulations and preventive measures in factories.
According to officials, Telangana recorded approximately 7,600 fire accidents in 2024, with over 200 fatalities and property losses amounting to ₹822 crore. Hyderabad alone accounted for nearly 2,500 of these incidents, highlighting the urgent need for improved fire safety protocols. Fire department officials have urged industries to implement stringent measures to prevent such disasters in the future.
