Lebanese authorities have detained several individuals accused of plotting rocket attacks on Israel and seized weapons and launchers during a raid near the southern port city of Sidon. The army said in a statement that these arrests are connected to an earlier case and that military intelligence uncovered the new plot during ongoing investigations. As troops raided the apartment, they found rocket equipment and detained the suspects, who have now been referred to judicial authorities for further legal action.
Earlier this week, the army had already announced the detention of several individuals, including Palestinians, linked to two rocket attacks launched in late March. These attacks led to significant Israeli airstrikes across southern Lebanon. While tensions at the border have escalated, Hezbollah denied involvement in the rocket firings, raising concerns about other groups acting independently within Lebanon’s volatile landscape.
On the same day, a separate Israeli drone strike hit the southern Lebanese village of Kawthariet al-Siyad, killing one person, as reported by the state-run National News Agency. The situation remains tense, with repeated cross-border strikes and growing fears of a broader conflict if rocket attacks and retaliations continue in the region.
