Kavitha Urges Centre to Return Five Telangana Villages Merged with Andhra Pradesh

BRS MLC and Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha has called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to urgently address the issue of five villages around Bhadrachalam that were merged with Andhra Pradesh. Speaking ahead of the Pragathi Agenda meeting, Kavitha emphasized that these villages do not fall under the Polavaram submergence zone and were unjustly transferred during the reorganization process. She said that the Centre must rectify this historic injustice and restore the villages to Telangana’s jurisdiction.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Kavitha highlighted the challenges faced by the affected villagers, accusing authorities of ignoring the ground realities. “Despite having no threat of submergence from the Polavaram project, these villages were removed from Telangana, causing unnecessary hardship and identity confusion for the residents,” she wrote. Kavitha appealed to both state governments and the Centre to show empathy and political will in resolving the territorial dispute that has persisted since bifurcation.

This isn’t the first time Kavitha has raised her voice on the matter — she has consistently advocated for justice for the people of Bhadrachalam and nearby regions. As the Pragathi Agenda meeting focuses on national development projects, she urged leaders to use the platform to address local grievances as well. The issue has also gained political traction, especially in the backdrop of Telangana’s demands for better representation and regional equity. With growing support from regional parties and community leaders, the pressure is now on the Centre to take decisive action.
