Illegal Structures Demolished in Miyapur, Hydernagar Amid Tight Security

In a significant enforcement action, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA) carried out a large-scale demolition drive in the Miyapur and Hydernagar areas on Monday, May 19. The drive targeted unauthorized constructions built on government land, particularly in areas falling under the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) layout. The operation was conducted under the directives of the Telangana High Court’s division bench, which had ordered the removal of all illegal encroachments to restore public land to its rightful purpose.

HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath briefed the media about the court-mandated operation, stating that the demolished structures were unauthorized and posed a challenge to urban planning and civic safety. To ensure that the operation proceeded smoothly and without public disruption, a heavy contingent of police personnel was deployed at the demolition sites. Their presence helped maintain law and order, especially as the drive took place in densely populated neighborhoods with a history of encroachments and disputes over land usage.

Videos circulating on social media captured visuals of bulldozers and heavy machinery dismantling makeshift shelters and temporary structures in Hydernagar. The footage has sparked conversations online, with some residents expressing support for restoring legal order, while others voiced concerns about the displacement of underprivileged families. This drive by HYDRAA is part of a broader initiative aimed at reclaiming government land across Hyderabad and ensuring strict adherence to city zoning regulations and court mandates.
