Hyderabad Traffic Police Crack Down on Violations: Nearly 19,000 Cases in One Week

In a focused effort to improve road safety, the Hyderabad Traffic Police conducted a week-long special enforcement drive between May 20 and May 26, resulting in the booking of 18,798 traffic violations across the city. The initiative was aimed at curbing reckless driving habits and ensuring strict compliance with traffic laws to safeguard both motorists and pedestrians.

An overwhelming 14,917 cases were filed against motorists for driving on the wrong side of the road, a hazardous offense that not only endangers lives but also disrupts the city’s traffic flow. Authorities have emphasized that such violations will continue to be dealt with sternly as part of their commitment to building a safer commute environment in Hyderabad.

In addition to the wrong-side driving cases, 3,881 violations were recorded for number plate irregularities, underlining a widespread neglect of vehicle identification rules. Officials have urged citizens to ensure their vehicles comply with the Motor Vehicle Act norms, warning that non-compliance will attract strict penalties in future drives.
