The Hyderabad Traffic Police has decided to stop playing soft and will launch a focused, continuous enforcement drive from March 1 targeting motorists who drive without a valid driving licence. For years, licence violations were bundled with general traffic checks, which diluted real impact and allowed repeat offenders to slip through. Senior officials have now admitted what was obvious all along — when everything is checked together, nothing is enforced properly. This new strategy isolates one offence at a time, aiming to force real compliance instead of symbolic fines.
Special teams will be deployed across major junctions, accident-prone stretches, and high-traffic corridors throughout Hyderabad. The focus will be simple and ruthless: no valid licence, no mercy. Drivers who fail to carry their licence or never obtained one will face legal action on the spot. Traffic officials believe targeted enforcement works far better than routine drives because it creates visible fear of getting caught — something casual checks never achieved.
Police leadership has also linked unlicensed driving directly to rising accident numbers, making it clear this is about public safety, not revenue collection. A strong warning has been issued to parents allowing minors to drive — they will be held legally responsible if caught. Authorities further stressed that accidents involving unlicensed drivers can lead to rejected insurance claims, leaving families financially ruined. The message is blunt: either follow the law now or pay a far heavier price later — in court, in money, or in lives.
