In a daring daylight robbery, a six-member armed gang stormed a jewellery store in Hyderabad’s Chandanagar on Tuesday morning, creating panic in the area. The robbers, who entered the Khazana Jewellery shop shortly after it opened for business, threatened the staff and demanded the locker keys. When the employees refused to comply, the gang opened fire, injuring the deputy manager in the leg. The sudden violence left staff and customers in shock as chaos unfolded inside the store.
According to police, the robbers not only fired at the deputy manager but also targeted the shop’s CCTV cameras, destroying them in an attempt to erase evidence. They then smashed display stalls and grabbed gold ornaments before fleeing the scene. Staff members, acting quickly, alerted the police. The arrival of law enforcement forced the gang to flee before they could take more valuables. Senior officials confirmed that the incident has caused serious concern within the city’s business community, particularly among jewellers.
Ten special police teams have been formed to hunt down the suspects, and a statewide alert has been issued to all police stations. Search operations are ongoing, with authorities combing through CCTV footage from nearby areas. Police have assured the public that the gang will be apprehended soon, and security measures for jewellery shops are expected to be reviewed in the coming days.
