GHMC Launches ₹398 Crore Multi-Level Flyover Project from Rethibowli to Nanalnagar

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has unveiled a major infrastructure project aimed at easing the ever-growing traffic congestion in the city. On September 3, officials announced the launch of a ₹398 crore multi-level flyover and grade separators at the busy Rethibowli–Nanalnagar corridor. This initiative, part of the Telangana government’s Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure (H-CITI) program, is designed to address bottlenecks on some of the city’s most crowded routes. Out of the total cost, ₹220 crore has been earmarked for the construction works, while the remaining amount will cover land acquisition, utility shifting, consultancy services, and the installation of noise barriers.

According to GHMC, the project will follow the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) model, ensuring quicker execution and accountability. Contractors selected for the work will be responsible not only for building the structure but also for maintaining it under a two-year defect liability period. The construction is expected to take around two years to complete, and once operational, the flyover is anticipated to become a crucial link in Hyderabad’s road network. Authorities emphasized that careful planning will be undertaken to minimize disruptions during construction, given the heavy traffic flow in the area.

Once completed, the flyover is expected to significantly ease traffic pressure across western Hyderabad. It will provide major relief for daily commuters traveling between Mehdipatnam, Tolichowki, Langar Houz, Attapur, and Gachibowli—areas that often witness severe congestion during peak hours. Urban planners believe that this project will not only reduce travel time but also enhance connectivity to IT hubs and residential zones. For a city witnessing rapid urbanization and population growth, the Rethibowli–Nanalnagar flyover is seen as a transformative step toward sustainable urban mobility.
