A major fire erupted at midnight on Saturday, July 5, at Bilal Hardware Shop located in Nawab Sahab Kunta, Kalapather, Hyderabad. The shop owner, Bilal, stated that he had closed his shop at 11 PM and returned home, only to be called back by locals after flames were seen engulfing the premises. The fire, which broke out around midnight, raged for approximately one and a half hours before the arrival of a fire tender, according to the owner. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.
Eyewitnesses and neighbors made initial attempts to control the blaze while alerting the shop owner and authorities. Bilal reported that despite repeated calls, the response from the Chandulalbaradari fire station was delayed. The entire shop, filled with hardware goods, was gutted by the time firefighters reached the location. He estimated the total damage to be around ₹6 lakh. Most of the shop’s inventory was turned to ash in what he described as a “devastating loss.”
Bilal expressed his disappointment over the late arrival of emergency services and said he would soon approach Bahadurpura MLA Mohammed Mubeen to seek financial assistance and raise concerns over fire safety negligence in the locality. The incident has once again highlighted the need for prompt disaster response and better infrastructure support in densely populated neighborhoods like Kalapather. Authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding the cause of the fire or the delayed response.
