Fire Breaks Out at Alwal Cycle Shop, Damages Three Stores – No Casualties Reported

A major fire broke out at Arun Cycle Shop in Lothukunta, Alwal, on Saturday morning, creating panic in the area as flames quickly spread to two nearby stores. The incident occurred around 11:20 am, when locals noticed thick smoke billowing from the cycle shop and immediately alerted the fire department. Within minutes, four fire tenders from Secunderabad, Malkajgiri, and Snorkel stations rushed to the scene. Firefighters battled the flames for nearly an hour before bringing the situation under control. Thankfully, no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.

According to officials, the fire originated inside the cycle shop and soon engulfed the adjacent medical and cloth stores. While the cycle shop was completely gutted, the adjoining medical shop suffered partial damage. A signboard and an air conditioner from the nearby cloth shop were also destroyed due to the intense heat. Residents and eyewitnesses praised the swift response of the fire department, which prevented the fire from spreading further in the congested commercial area.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the blaze might have been triggered by an electrical short circuit, though officials have yet to confirm the exact cause. The total loss is estimated to be between ₹5–6 lakh. Authorities have urged shop owners in the area to check their electrical installations and follow safety measures to prevent similar incidents. An inquiry has been initiated to ascertain the reason behind the fire and evaluate the extent of property damage.
