Drunk Telangana Congress Leader Assaults Female Police Officer in Khammam After Hotel Ruckus

Tensions flared in Khammam district on Friday night when Congress leader Rayala Ramu, reportedly intoxicated, created chaos at a hotel in Kallur town. The commotion began over a disagreement between Ramu and the hotel staff regarding a food item, prompting the staff to alert police. Sub-inspector Haritha and her team were dispatched to the scene to control the situation, which had already drawn a small crowd. Witnesses say the politician was unruly and disrespectful, and his behavior escalated further when his associates joined him at the spot.

When SI Haritha attempted to de-escalate the situation, Rayala Ramu began hurling verbal abuse at the police. In response to his continued misbehavior, the officer remarked in Telugu, “Picchi picchiga unda?” (“Are you out of your senses?”). Offended by her question, the leader responded arrogantly, after which the officer reportedly slapped him. In retaliation, Ramu aggressively pushed her, leading to a physical confrontation that left the situation on edge. The police had no choice but to carry out a lathi charge to disperse the group and bring things under control.

All six individuals involved, including Rayala Ramu, were taken into custody and are currently held at Sathupalli police station. Authorities, however, have not released any official statement regarding charges or further legal action. Despite repeated attempts to reach senior officers in Kallur and Sathupalli, no clarification has been given to the media. The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with demands for strict action against the leader for assaulting a female officer while intoxicated. The silence from law enforcement has raised concerns about political pressure and transparency in the case.
