A tragic road accident in Delhi has sparked outrage after a 17-year-old minor allegedly rammed his speeding SUV into a motorcycle while recording social media reels, killing Sahil Dhaneshra on the spot. The crash occurred on February 3 in the Dwarka area when the teenager, driving his father’s Scorpio without a licence, reportedly drove in the wrong lane, performed stunts for the camera, and lost control. The SUV first smashed into Sahil’s bike before crashing into a parked car, seriously injuring a nearby taxi driver as well.
Sahil’s mother, Inna Makan, a single parent, has accused the teen of reckless criminal behaviour rather than a simple accident. She stated that videos recovered clearly show the minor speeding aggressively and focusing on filming instead of driving safely. According to her, the accused didn’t even apply brakes after the collision, causing massive damage to multiple vehicles and turning a busy road into a disaster zone within seconds. She also alleged the teen had previous speeding challans and that his parents failed to stop his dangerous behaviour.
Police confirmed the accused is a minor and was initially considered to be tried as an adult before documents proved otherwise. He was sent to a juvenile observation home but later granted interim bail to appear for his Class 10 board exams — a move that has angered the victim’s family and local residents. Authorities have seized all vehicles, collected CCTV footage, and booked the minor under rash driving and negligence causing death laws, while also preparing to charge his father under the Motor Vehicles Act. The case has reignited debate over underage driving, influencer culture, and how easily reckless behaviour turns deadly on Indian roads.
