Congress Launches ‘Basti Bata’ Padayatra to Woo Voters Ahead of Jubilee Hills Bypoll

In a major grassroots outreach ahead of the Jubilee Hills bypoll, the Congress Party has launched a new campaign titled ‘Basti Bata’, aimed at connecting directly with voters in the slum areas of the constituency. The initiative will officially begin next week and continue for four weeks until the by-election scheduled on November 11. Senior Congress leaders including Tummala Nageswara Rao, Ponnam Prabhakar, Gaddam Vivek, AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, and TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud will lead the padayatras, walking through localities to listen to public grievances and mobilize support for the party.

Under the ‘Basti Bata’ program, the leaders plan to visit every major slum settlement in the Jubilee Hills constituency. They will interact with residents, address their civic issues, and assure them of government attention once the bypoll concludes. The campaign is designed to showcase the Congress government’s commitment to improving the living standards of economically weaker communities while ensuring direct communication between ministers and citizens.

Party sources say the initiative also aims to strengthen the candidature of V. Naveen Yadav, the Congress nominee for the bypoll. The leadership believes that such face-to-face engagement will build trust among urban poor voters, traditionally seen as a decisive bloc in Jubilee Hills. The Congress hopes that the success of ‘Basti Bata’ will not only secure victory for Naveen Yadav but also reinforce the party’s image as a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
