Case Filed Against X User Over Morphed Image Targeting Telangana CM Revanth Reddy

The Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police have initiated legal proceedings against a social media user for allegedly sharing an objectionable and digitally altered image of Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. The complaint, filed by Kailash Sajjan, state secretary of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee’s (TPCC) social media wing, accuses the X (formerly Twitter) user “DigtvTelugu” of circulating vulgar and abusive content. The post also featured Congress leader Fahim Qureshi with captions that mocked both politicians, suggesting malicious intent aimed at defaming the CM and the party.

In his complaint, Sajjan emphasized that the content was fake, morphed, and deeply offensive, claiming that it was crafted to mislead the public and incite animosity against the state government. He also labeled the account holder a “habitual troublemaker” who repeatedly uses social media platforms to provoke political unrest and spread misinformation targeting Congress leadership. The complaint called for strict action under relevant legal provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Following the formal complaint, a criminal case has been registered under Sections 352, 353(2), and 336(4) of the BNS, dealing with intentional provocation, public mischief, and forgery with the intent to harm reputation. Officials from the cyber crime department confirmed they are in the process of contacting the X platform to gather information regarding the identity of the person responsible for uploading the morphed image. Investigations are ongoing to trace and prosecute the individual involved.
