Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders, led by RS Praveen Kumar, filed a police complaint against Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on January 28, accusing him of unilateral decisions that led to the cancellation of the Formula E race and derailed the E-Mobility Valley project in Hyderabad. The complaint, lodged at Narsingi police station, alleges criminal breach of trust and misuse of public funds, citing significant financial losses and missed job opportunities due to the race cancellation. According to Praveen Kumar, the Congress government’s approach undermines Telangana’s growth trajectory and public welfare.
The Formula E race, meticulously planned under the BRS government, was seen as a crucial initiative to boost Telangana’s revenue and position it as the e-mobility capital of India. The complaint highlights that the Congress government spent over ₹54 crores on the event without proper Cabinet approval and failed to hold organizers accountable for contractual breaches. The cancellation also jeopardized investments linked to the E-Mobility Valley, a flagship project designed to attract global interest and innovation. Praveen Kumar further criticized the government for political vendetta, stating this approach wastes taxpayer money and damages the state’s reputation.
The Congress government, however, has countered these allegations by focusing on financial irregularities under the previous BRS administration. Reports suggest that ₹55 crores were spent on the event without sufficient oversight, leading to inquiries into senior officials, including IAS officer Arvind Kumar. The political blame game between the BRS and Congress over the Formula E race continues to intensify, with both sides accusing each other of hindering Telangana’s progress and mismanaging public resources.
