Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray has strongly refuted fresh calls for a police case and a CBI inquiry into his alleged involvement in the death of celebrity manager Disha Salian. The demand was reignited by Disha’s father, Satish Salian, who filed a petition in the Bombay High Court, asserting that his daughter was murdered and that a political cover-up took place. Aaditya Thackeray labeled the accusations as a long-standing smear campaign against him and stated that his legal team would address the matter in court. His father, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, also dismissed the allegations, noting that similar claims have surfaced repeatedly over the years without any substantial evidence. The Shiv Sena has accused political opponents of using the case to tarnish the Thackeray family’s reputation.
Satish Salian’s petition alleges that high-profile politicians, including Aaditya Thackeray and former Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar, pressured him to avoid implicating certain individuals. He claims that evidence was tampered with to misrepresent his daughter’s death as a suicide. Additionally, he raised concerns over inconsistencies, such as the lack of bloodstains or injuries consistent with a fall from the 14th floor, where Disha reportedly jumped to her death. The case is further complicated by its connection to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who was a client of Disha and died under suspicious circumstances just six days later. Sushant’s father, KK Singh, has now backed the call for a CBI investigation, believing that a fresh probe into Disha’s case could also bring clarity to his son’s death.
The allegations have triggered a fierce political battle, with Shiv Sena leaders claiming that the timing of the petition is meant to divert attention from ongoing issues like the Aurangzeb grave controversy in Nagpur. BJP leaders, on the other hand, insist that Aaditya Thackeray must face questioning and have warned that the truth will eventually come out. Fisheries Minister Nitesh Rane directly accused Thackeray of involvement, demanding his resignation and predicting that he would “end up in jail.” The BJP has consistently alleged that both Disha and Sushant were murdered and that the former Maharashtra government covered up Aaditya Thackeray’s role. As political tensions rise, the court’s response to Satish Salian’s petition will likely determine the next phase of this long-running controversy.
