CM Revanth Reddy Pushes for Central Funds to Accelerate Zaheerabad Smart City Project

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday made a strong pitch for central assistance in fast-tracking the development of the Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City. During a high-level meeting with Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal in New Delhi, Reddy urged the Centre to promptly release ₹596.61 crore that had already been sanctioned by the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT). He emphasized that this funding is crucial for kickstarting the core development activities of the project.

The Chief Minister also appealed for additional financial backing to build key infrastructure necessary for transforming Zaheerabad into a fully functional industrial smart city. He specifically requested support for establishing sustainable water supply systems, strengthening power networks, and laying down other critical civic amenities. Reddy underlined that such investments would not only boost industrialization but also generate employment and improve the overall economic ecosystem in the region.

The Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City project is part of Telangana’s broader vision to enhance its industrial footprint by integrating modern urban planning with high-end manufacturing facilities. Revanth Reddy’s push for expedited central support reflects the state’s proactive stance in positioning Zaheerabad as a future hub of industrial innovation. The success of this project could serve as a model for similar initiatives across India, provided timely funding and policy coordination between the state and Centre continue.
