Rachakonda Police Bust Adulterated Food Network: 52 Arrested, 4,000 Kg Seized in Statewide Crackdown

In a massive operation against the menace of food adulteration, Rachakonda Police launched a multi-location crackdown resulting in the arrest of 52 individuals and registration of 46 criminal cases. Acting under the orders of Commissioner of Police G. Sudheer Babu, Special Operations Teams I & II, along with Law-and-Order officers and Armed Reserve personnel, raided multiple unauthorized food processing units. These units were found manufacturing and selling adulterated items like ghee, paneer, and ginger garlic paste in appalling sanitary conditions and without any valid FSSAI certification. The police say these counterfeit products were being circulated under fake branding, posing serious threats to public health.

The worst violations were uncovered in Bhongir, L.B. Nagar, and Maheshwaram, with Bhongir alone seeing 18 cases and 250 kilograms of spurious snacks and paneer seized. In L.B. Nagar, police confiscated 575 litres of adulterated ghee, while Maheshwaram recorded the largest single seizure of nearly 4,000 kilograms of contaminated ginger garlic paste. The Malkajgiri division revealed another shocking dimension — illegal manufacturing of untested ‘immunity-boosting’ products worth ₹10 lakh. Investigators also found several units using expired raw materials, selling items without expiry dates, employing child labour, and using banned synthetic food colors, sparking widespread concern among both authorities and the public.

Rachakonda Police have urged citizens to exercise vigilance while purchasing food products. Consumers are advised to avoid unbranded goods and to always verify packaging details such as batch numbers, expiry dates, and license numbers. Anyone who suspects adulteration or unsafe food production has been asked to report it to the dedicated police helpline at 8712662666. Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu confirmed that this is only the beginning of an intensified campaign, with further investigations and arrests expected as authorities work to dismantle all illegal food networks operating in the region.
