In a major step towards digital transformation and commuter convenience, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) is introducing WhatsApp-based ticket booking and fully digital bus passes under its Automatic Fare Collection System (AFCS). This new initiative aims to reduce dependency on physical tickets and long queues. Passengers will soon be able to enter their travel details via WhatsApp and instantly receive their e-tickets, making public transportation quicker, easier, and more user-friendly.
In addition to WhatsApp ticketing, the RTC will also issue digital bus passes through its official mobile app. These passes will be authenticated by conductors using handheld ticketing devices, ensuring a seamless travel experience for daily commuters. The feature is expected to especially benefit students, working professionals, and regular passengers who rely on monthly or seasonal bus passes.
Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar announced the rollout of these services during his visit to the Mushirabad depot on Monday. He was joined by TSRTC Managing Director V. C. Sajjanar, who emphasized the department’s commitment to modernizing services. The move has been widely appreciated by passengers and transport sector observers, positioning TGSRTC as a pioneer in embracing smart mobility solutions in public transport.
