A major disruption in train services occurred on Friday, June 26, after a girder collapsed during Road Over Bridge (ROB) repair work in Telangana’s Peddapalli district. The incident took place near Raghavpuram railway station, where the girder was reportedly being installed. Videos circulated on social media showed the structure severely tilted and broken, raising concerns over construction safety and supervision.
The collapse caused the Bhagyanagar Express, traveling from Sirpur Kagaznagar to Secunderabad, to come to a complete halt at the Raghavpuram station for over four hours. Passengers were seen disembarking and waiting anxiously on the platform as railway officials assessed the damage. The South Central Railway (SCR) suspended all train movement on the Peddapalli route, resulting in a temporary blockade on the crucial Kazipet–Balharsha rail section.
According to SCR officials, restoration efforts were immediately launched, and services are expected to resume within two hours. Meanwhile, inquiries have been initiated to determine the cause of the girder failure. The incident has sparked criticism from commuters and calls for stricter safety protocols in infrastructure maintenance and construction projects across the state.
