Adilabad District Superintendent of Police, Akhil Mahajan, has taken a firm stand against the growing menace of drug abuse and related crimes in the district, emphasizing that this issue poses a serious threat to the youth and society at large. In a candid conversation with The Siasat Daily, SP Mahajan highlighted how the lure of quick money without honest effort is driving many individuals, especially young people, towards illegal activities like drug smuggling and substance abuse. He pointed out that ganja use is becoming increasingly widespread among youth, severely impacting their futures and disrupting families. Determined to tackle the problem decisively, Mahajan assured that strict action would be taken against those involved in the production, sale, and consumption of drugs, with no exceptions for users or traffickers.
To combat these challenges, the SP revealed that specialized police teams are actively monitoring and cracking down on ganja smuggling networks and other unlawful practices across Adilabad. Using the metaphor of a tree, Mahajan expressed his resolve by saying, “Leaves may fall in a storm, but the roots keep the tree standing,” signaling his commitment to uproot drug-related issues at their core. He called upon citizens to play a responsible role and cooperate with law enforcement in creating a safer community. Besides drug-related concerns, SP Mahajan also voiced his apprehensions about the persistent social ill of dowry, describing it as a disease that ruins countless lives. He urged community leaders and organizations to join hands and address the problem through combined social and legal measures.
Besides these social concerns, the SP warned against the rising trend of reckless driving and underage driving in the district, emphasizing the dangers posed by overspeeding. He appealed to parents to prevent minors from driving vehicles and cautioned that legal cases would be filed against guardians if such incidents occur. Mahajan’s message to the youth was clear and motivational—he encouraged them to focus on education and contribute positively to the progress of their district, city, and country. Known for his disciplined service in Rajanna Sircilla, SP Akhil Mahajan’s proactive approach has been appreciated by many, including local political leaders. During the interaction, The Siasat Daily’s reporter felicitated him with a shawl, reflecting the community’s support for his determined efforts.
