The Indian Army has released fresh visuals of its military offensive under Operation Sindoor, asserting the action as an act of justice rather than revenge for the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians. The footage, shared by the Western Command on X (formerly Twitter), captures intense shelling and targeted strikes on terror launchpads across the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). A soldier in the video states, “This is not anger but determination — justice, not revenge,” emphasizing that all Pakistani positions from which firing originated were successfully destroyed.
Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7 in response to the brutal civilian massacre, targeted nine terror camps and significantly escalated cross-border tensions. However, a ceasefire agreement was reached between India and Pakistan on May 10. Clarifying media speculation, the Defence Ministry confirmed on May 18 that no Director General of Military Operations (DGMO)-level meeting was scheduled and stressed that the ceasefire declared on May 12 remains in effect with no expiry date. The ministry responded to reports suggesting a potential lapse in ceasefire and reiterated India’s commitment to its strategic resolve while maintaining operational readiness.
In a parallel diplomatic offensive, the Government of India announced a delegation of 51 political leaders — cutting across party lines — to represent the nation’s stance on terrorism across 32 global capitals and the European Union headquarters in Brussels. Leaders such as Baijayant Panda, Shashi Tharoor, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Kanimozhi, and Supriya Sule will be part of the outreach. Meanwhile, Pakistan too has launched a similar campaign, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assigning Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to lead their diplomatic efforts. Both nations are attempting to shape global narratives in the wake of heightened tensions post-Pahalgam and Operation Sindoor.
