In a major diplomatic push following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, the Indian government is sending seven high-level delegations of Members of Parliament to key countries around the world. These delegations, composed of MPs from multiple parties including Shashi Tharoor, Supriya Sule, Ravi Shankar Prasad, and others, aim to present a united front against terrorism and call out Pakistan’s alleged role in sponsoring cross-border attacks. According to the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, the visits will target countries that are strategic partners of India, including permanent members of the United Nations Security Council.
Dubbed a response under “Operation Sindoor,” the initiative underscores India’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism and seeks to counter Pakistan’s ongoing attempts to internationalise the Kashmir issue. The delegations will carry India’s message that the Pahalgam attack was not an isolated incident but part of a larger pattern of cross-border terrorism, supported by Pakistan-based groups. The Ministry stated that these emissaries will clarify that India’s countermeasures targeted only terror infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied territories and were conducted with precision to avoid civilian casualties.
The countries slated to host the Indian delegations include the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Japan, South Africa, Qatar, and the United States. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju highlighted the move as a powerful demonstration of national unity rising above political lines. Other MPs expected to join include Asaduddin Owaisi, Anurag Thakur, Kanimozhi, and Manish Tewari, among others. These efforts aim to rally global support, urge action against state-sponsored terrorism, and ensure Pakistan faces international accountability for its role in destabilizing the region.
