In a major crackdown on illegal gambling activities, police in Adilabad arrested 15 individuals for engaging in banned gambling at a function hall on the outskirts of the town. The arrests occurred on Saturday night at Balaji Function Hall, following a tip-off from local informants. The suspects, identified as Manda Adellu, Sriram Santosh, Barkunti Raju, and others, were caught red-handed while indulging in gambling. The authorities seized a significant amount of cash, totaling ₹89,160, in addition to 13 mobile phones and six motorcycles.
The police action was led by Adilabad Rural Inspector K. Phanidhar, who confirmed the seizure and said that a case had been registered against all 15 individuals involved. The authorities were able to conduct the operation smoothly, effectively bringing an end to the illegal gambling session.
