Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge intensified his criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing a gathering in Ahmedabad during the All India Congress Committee (AICC) session. Kharge alleged that the Modi government is systematically handing over public assets, including crucial sectors like mining and airports, to a handful of industrialist friends. He warned that if this trend continues, “Modi ji will sell off the entire country and walk away,” claiming that the government is putting the nation’s wealth in private hands at the cost of public welfare.
Kharge further raised concerns about the impact on marginalized communities, asserting that reservations for SCs, STs, and OBCs in government jobs are being weakened. According to him, these systemic changes are not only undermining constitutional protections but also increasing social inequality. He criticized the silence of the Prime Minister on such vital issues, calling it a betrayal of the promises made to the people of India, particularly the underprivileged sections of society.
Addressing youth issues, Kharge stated that high unemployment is forcing the younger generation to seek opportunities abroad. “Even the educated youth are fleeing the country, and some are being brought back in chains,” he said, referring to recent cases involving Indian citizens facing hardships abroad. He used this point to highlight the failure of the Modi government to provide stable employment and dignity to its youth. The AICC session being held in Gujarat, Modi’s home state, after more than six decades, gave Kharge’s remarks added significance.
