India Rebukes Canada Over Allegations Against Amit Shah

India has strongly refuted allegations made by Canadian Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister David Morrison, claiming Home Minister Amit Shah ordered the targeting of Khalistani extremists in Canada. The Ministry of External Affairs termed the allegations “absurd and baseless” and summoned a Canadian diplomat, handing over a diplomatic note in protest. India also criticized Canada’s admission of leaking sensitive information to the media, warning of “serious consequences” for bilateral ties.

India expressed concern over Canada’s actions, including surveillance of Indian consular officials, which it deemed a “flagrant violation” of diplomatic conventions. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson emphasized that such actions amount to harassment and intimidation, exacerbating an already tense environment. Ties between India and Canada have been strained since Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged Indian involvement in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
